This Weekend in Coco: Annexation of Guanacaste Celebrations!!

This is going to be an exciting weekend in Playas del Coco!  A festival of celebrations will be held to honour the 189th Anniversary of the Annexation of Guanacaste, Costa Rica, from Nicaragua. 

There are fun events for the whole family to enjoy! Let's take a look:

Annexation of Guanacaste 2013 Events:

Friday, July 26th

2:00 p.m. Parade down Main Street ending at the park

5:00 p.m. FREE Fisherman Dance with a performance by Guanarena

Saturday, July 27th

6:00 a.m. until noon - Fishing Tournament

2:00 p.m. Marimba Show at Playas del Coco Elementary School

3:00 p.m. Soccer game

6:00 p.m. Ceremony honouring local Fisherman

Concert by Los de la Bajura

And remember, part of the Fisherman Celebrations include the chance to enjoy fresh seafood dishes and to purchase fish & seafood at very good prices!!

Hidden Art Gallery, Guanacaste

Just minutes from the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia (and only twenty-minutes from our brand new ocean view condo in Playas del Coco), Hidden Garden Art Gallery proudly showcases more than 50 Costa Rican artists making it the largest art gallery in Guanacaste.

Hidden Garden Art Gallery is home to a permanent exhibit by well-known artist Carlos Hiller whose colorful underwater scenes provide glimpses of the sea and it's creatures.  His talent for capturing depth and realism has been compared to another notable underwater artist, Wyland.

Besides their collection of over 400 works at the gallery itself, Hidden Garden Art Gallery has off-site exhibits at the Liberia airport ( mentioned above), Pacific Plaza Medical Office Building, and the new international CIMA Guanacaste Hospital.
