New Liberia Airport Terminal Open January 12, 2012

After several delays, the inaugural opening of the the new terminal at Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Guanacaste, opened on Thursday, January 12, 2012.
Touted as the best secondary airport in Central America by Francisco Jimenez, Costa Rica's Transport Minister.  The new Liberia terminal will have the capacity to handle 1,500 during the busiest times of the day.
The new Liberia airport terminal features upgraded security, designated areas for departures and arrivals, holding rooms for detainees, and special dorms for those being deported from Costa Rica.
The new airport will help generate funds to remodel and expand services at the old Liberia airport.  Beginning in June 2012, Copa Airlines will offer flights to and from Liberia to South America.
